The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old suspected drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of substances believed to be illicit drugs during an operation in Enugu.
The Command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that the suspect, identified as Musa Zuberu, was apprehended on February 11, 2026, at about 1:40 p.m. The arrest was carried out by operatives attached to the Crack Tactical Squad during a routine patrol along Camp 1, Iva Valley, Enugu.
According to the police, a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a large quantity of weed suspected to be marijuana, including synthetic variants popularly referred to as “Canadian Loud” and “Colorado” (also known as “Colos”), as well as other suspected illicit substances.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse across Enugu State.
He warned individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs to desist immediately or face the full weight of the law.
The police further revealed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected drug network and dismantle related operations within the state.
The development follows recent operations in which the Command arrested five male suspects, including a dispatch rider, in separate raids. During those operations, officers recovered quantities of suspected tramadol, methamphetamine—locally known as “Mkpuru-mmiri”—and other variants of weed believed to be marijuana.
Authorities say the renewed enforcement drive forms part of broader efforts to curb crimes linked to drug abuse and trafficking in Enugu State.
