The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables by two weeks, following an overwhelming response from applicants nationwide.
The application portal, which opened on 15 December 2025, will now close on 8 February 2026, according to a statement issued by the PSC.
In the press release signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, the Commission disclosed that over 400,000 applications have already been received. However, a review of submissions revealed significant disparities in participation across states.
While states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra showed notably lower application figures.
The extension, the Commission explained, is aimed at ensuring equitable representation across all states of the federation in the recruitment exercise.
The PSC and NPF therefore urged all eligible Nigerians—especially those from states with lower application rates—to take advantage of the extended window and apply through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng
In addition, state governments, local government councils, socio-cultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders were encouraged to mobilise and sensitise qualified youths within their communities to participate in the exercise before the new deadline.
The Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed their commitment to a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process, assuring applicants that all submissions will be treated in line with established guidelines.
