In a powerful demonstration of courage, professionalism, and humanitarian commitment, Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, operating under, Operations FANSAN YAMMA sustained their offensive deep into the forest, culminating in the successful rescue of a kidnapped underage victim, Halira Ibrahim in an ongoing offensive against terrorists and bandits in the Sububu Forests of Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Captain David Adewusi, highlighted the humanitarian significance of the operation.
He disclosed that as troops continued to exploit deeper into the forest, they successfully rescued a kidnapped underage victim, Halira Ibrahim. The operation brought an end to her ordeal and restored her to safety, underscoring the unwavering resolve of the troops to protect vulnerable citizens while confronting the menace of kidnapping and violent extremism head-on.
The rescue, he noted, reflects the unwavering commitment of the troops to protecting vulnerable citizens and combating kidnapping.
The operation further saw the destruction of several terrorist camps and life-support structures located in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga, and Kukatara. These actions have significantly disrupted terrorist activities by denying them safe havens and essential logistics.
The operation, aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves and restoring lasting peace to the area, resulted in the neutralization of six terrorists, the recovery of arms and ammunition, the destruction of terrorist infrastructure, and the rescue of a kidnapped underage victim.
The offensive began with a targeted operation at Indulumu village, where troops engaged terrorists in a fierce encounter, leading to the neutralization of two of them. During the engagement, one AK-47 rifle was recovered, further degrading the terrorists’ fighting capability.
Maintaining operational momentum, the Strike Force advanced to Ruduno village, where troops encountered additional resistance. In a coordinated and decisive action, four more terrorists were neutralized.
Items recovered during the operation included another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles, which were destroyed on site to deny the terrorists mobility and logistical support.
Operations FANSAN YAMMA continues to intensify efforts across the North-West to eliminate criminal elements, restore peace, and reassure law-abiding citizens of the Armed Forces’ resolve to safeguard lives and property.
