The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Sir Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja.

During the visit, Governor Mutfwang congratulated Vice Admiral Abbas on his appointment as Chief of the Naval Staff and emphasized the need for sustained collaboration with the Nigerian Navy to consolidate peace and security in Plateau State.

He described the CNS as an indigene of Plateau State in spirit, noting that the state remains a home where all Nigerians are welcome.

The Governor further outlined the deliberate and inclusive measures being implemented by his administration to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across Plateau State, adding that these efforts were already yielding positive results.

In his response, Vice Admiral Abbas expressed appreciation for the Governor’s visit and goodwill. He affirmed his deep personal and professional ties to Plateau State, revealing that he was born in Jos, where he also spent his early childhood and secondary education, although he is an indigene of Kano State.

The CNS also recalled his service as a Sector Commander between 2012 and 2013 under the Defence Headquarters-led Operation SAFE HAVEN, now known as Operation ENDURING PEACE, which is domiciled in Plateau State. He noted that these experiences strengthened his connection to the state and its people.

Given these longstanding ties, Vice Admiral Abbas assured Governor Mutfwang of the Nigerian Navy’s full support and cooperation in efforts aimed at sustaining peace and security in Plateau State.
