The Chairman of the Anambra–Imo River Basin Development Authority, Senator Emmanuel Anosike, has praised Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his preparedness, intellectual capacity, and long-term vision for Anambra State, describing him as a leader who “came into office fully ready for the job.”
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Senator Anosike, who hails from Anambra State, said Soludo’s victory at the polls was a reflection of the people’s confidence in his capacity and commitment to development. He noted that while many politicians assume office without a clear roadmap, Soludo’s preparation and strategic mindset distinguished him.
“Soludo is one person who truly prepared for this job. Many leaders were unprepared before coming into office, but Soludo planned, studied, and came back stronger after his first attempt. His preparedness made the difference,” he stated.
Anosike described the governor as “a long-distance runner” whose leadership approach is built on planning and sustainability rather than short-term political gains. He expressed optimism that Soludo’s second tenure would deliver more visible transformation across the state.
“Soludo plans, strategizes, and implements carefully. I’m confident that this second term will bring greater results. His vision is long-term, and people will soon see the fruits of his policies,” he said.
On security, Senator Anosike lauded the governor’s performance, noting that his firm stance against criminal networks has restored peace and stability in the state.
“His strategy on security has been one of the best in the South East. Initially, people misunderstood his tough measures, but they later realized he was right. Today, communities are safer,” Anosike observed.
However, he advised the governor to “open up more” and build stronger grassroots connections, stressing that effective governance requires inclusivity beyond political boundaries.
“Now that elections are over, party lines should no longer divide us. Everyone should be brought to the table to contribute ideas. This is not about Soludo or APGA — it’s about Anambra State,” he emphasized.
Addressing the zoning debate in Anambra politics, Anosike dismissed it as a political arrangement rather than a constitutional principle, urging the people to prioritize competence over geography.
“Anambra is not known for zoning. Leadership should be based on capacity and performance, not location,” he said.
On infrastructure, he highlighted the need to improve air travel operations in the state, lamenting the irregular flight schedule despite having one of Nigeria’s best airport runways.
“The airport is excellent, but flight operations are limited. The government should engage airlines and make the environment more attractive for consistent operations,” he urged.
Senator Anosike also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its transparency and efficiency in the last election, describing the process as a model for other states.
“Results were released within 24 hours, unlike in the past. The use of technology improved transparency, and security agencies were professional throughout,” he noted.
In his closing remarks, Anosike called for unity and collective effort toward the development of Anambra State.
“Politics is over; governance has begun. Let’s support Soludo because supporting him means supporting Anambra. Constructive criticism is welcome, but we must work together to move the state forward,” he concluded.
