Troops of Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, under the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have arrested a 25-year-old suspected gunrunner, Mr. Abdulmudallabi Audu, during a raid in Taraba State.
According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the operation was conducted on November 12, 2025, following credible intelligence. The troops stormed Shagada Village, under Namnai Ward in Gassol Local Government Area, where the suspect was apprehended.
Recovered items from the operation include one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, and 53 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The suspect and the seized exhibits are currently in custody at the 6 Brigade Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their vigilance, professionalism, and prompt action based on actionable intelligence.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to maintaining aggressive security operations across Taraba State to ensure peace and protect law-abiding citizens within the North-East and adjoining regions.
General Uwa also called on members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to aid in dismantling criminal networks and fostering lasting peace in the region.
