In a renewed effort to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets along the Maje border corridor, the Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has undertaken a strategic engagement visit to the Tsamiya/Sebgana border post.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, was led by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, fdc. He was accompanied by Major Shola Elijah Moses, the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Battalion, along with other senior security officials. The delegation was warmly received by Beninese Customs authorities, officers of the Kebbi Command, and key border stakeholders.

In his remarks, Comptroller Ibrahim emphasized the importance of enhanced synergy among security agencies operating along the border. He noted that effective border management can only thrive through collaboration, intelligence sharing, and mutual confidence.

“Security is a shared duty. This visit reinforces our commitment to working together for a safer, more secure border environment,” he said.

Responding, Arouna Dramane, Comptroller of Customs for the Wara Border in the Benin Republic, commended the initiative as both timely and strategic. He led the Nigerian delegation on a guided tour of Beninese facilities and reaffirmed his country’s readiness to sustain and deepen cooperation.

The engagement concluded with an exchange of goodwill messages and a joint reaffirmation by both nations to strengthen partnership in advancing peace, security, and seamless border operations.

Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Mubarak Mustapha, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi Area Command, issued the statement on behalf of the Customs Area Controller.
