Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has lauded the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their prompt and effective response to recent banditry attacks in parts of the state.
The governor gave the commendation on Wednesday while receiving the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Major General Abubakar Wase, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Kano.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, Governor Yusuf expressed deep appreciation to the military for their dedication and professionalism in safeguarding lives and property. He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing competent service chiefs who are demonstrating strong commitment to national security.
As part of efforts to boost the operations of the Joint Task Force in the affected areas, Governor Yusuf announced the donation of ten Hilux vehicles and sixty motorcycles to enhance mobility and coordination among security personnel.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for security agencies in their ongoing fight against banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling across the state.
In his remarks, Major General Wase said his visit was to assess the security situation in the affected local government areas of Shanono and Tsanyawa. He also described his visit as a familiarization tour, recalling fond memories of the Kano Government House where his late father, retired Colonel Muhammad Abdullahi-Wase, once served as Military Administrator of the state.
“I am here on a familiarity visit,” the GOC noted, adding that he had visited the scenes of the recent attacks to commend the troops for their gallantry and professionalism.
