The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, has urged newly promoted soldiers of Headquarters 81 Division to remain steadfast in discipline, hard work, and dedication as they take on greater responsibilities in their careers.
He gave the charge on 18 November 2025 during the decoration ceremony held at the Division’s Headquarters Complex in Victoria Island, Lagos.
At the event, Staff Sergeants Babagana Abacha and Kassim Musediku were elevated to the prestigious rank of Warrant Officer. Likewise, six Sergeants were promoted to Staff Sergeant, four Corporals to Sergeant, and three Lance Corporals attained the rank of Corporal.
Major General Mijinyawa congratulated the beneficiaries, acknowledging their exemplary discipline, commitment, and professionalism. He noted that their efforts have greatly contributed to the Division’s achievements in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy for the year.
He further highlighted the vital role of clerks in ensuring administrative efficiency and encouraged those among the newly promoted to remain focused and diligent. The GOC also commended the families of the soldiers for their unwavering support, describing them as an essential pillar behind the troops’ success.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted personnel, Warrant Officer Babagana Abatcha expressed gratitude to God for the milestone and to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, for the honour of elevation. He also appreciated the GOC for his guidance, support, and mentorship.
He pledged that the newly promoted soldiers would continue to justify the confidence reposed in them through renewed dedication, commitment, and by ensuring their families feel the positive impact of their advancement.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff Headquarters 81 Division, Commanders, Staff Officers, families, friends, and well-wishers. It ended with a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
