The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders across all operational theatres to intensify precision air operations and deliver smarter, harder, and more decisive strikes against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements threatening national security.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday following a high-level strategic meeting convened by the Air Chief at the NAF Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting, which brought together operational commanders from all theatres nationwide, marked a major step in recalibrating the NAF’s operational posture under the new leadership. It provided a platform to harmonize strategies, strengthen inter-service cooperation, and reinforce the Nigerian Air Force’s role as a decisive instrument of national power and a symbol of hope for citizens.
Addressing the commanders, Air Marshal Aneke emphasized the need for agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare in confronting evolving security threats.
“We must fly smarter and strike harder, not only to neutralize threats but to protect the lives and property of Nigerians. Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” he said.
The CAS stressed that the complex and fluid nature of current security challenges requires close synchronization of air, land, and maritime operations to achieve joint mission success. He assured that the Air Force would continue to collaborate closely with the Army, Navy, and other security agencies to maintain a united front in the fight against terrorism and criminality.
Reaffirming his commitment to personnel welfare, capacity building, and operational efficiency, Air Marshal Aneke pledged to prioritize innovation, technology, and continuous training to enhance mission outcomes.
“Every airman and airwoman has a role to play in achieving our collective vision. I will ensure you are equipped, trained, and motivated to deliver results,” he assured.
He also reiterated the NAF’s unwavering dedication to the government’s vision of peace and security while upholding professionalism and accountability.
“We will apply decisive force against those who threaten our nation—with discipline, humanity, and professionalism. The Nigerian people, government, and international partners expect nothing less from us,” the CAS added.
Air Marshal Aneke tasked the commanders to translate strategy into action, sustain operational momentum, and ensure every sortie produces tangible results.
“The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators. Nigeria is counting on us, and we will not fail,” he declared.
The strategic engagement reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to effective airpower employment, inter-agency synergy, and the protection of Nigeria’s sovereignty—while reinforcing international confidence in the country’s counterterrorism efforts.
