Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have foiled a planned terrorist attack and neutralized two armed criminals during an operation in Taraba State.
The operation, conducted on 1 October 2025 under the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, followed credible intelligence that bandits were converging at Tor Ikyeghgba village. On arrival, the troops encountered the terrorists along the Powerline axis and swiftly engaged them with superior firepower, killing two.
According to the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, items recovered from the scene include: One locally fabricated pistol, Two Dane guns, Three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, One Baofeng radio, and a motorcycle and other items.
Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response, resilience, and professionalism. He assured residents that the Brigade remains committed to ensuring peace and security across Taraba State.
He also urged members of the public to continue supporting military operations with timely and credible information to aid in the fight against criminality.
