The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced plans to initiate legal action against online news platform Peoples Gazette, accusing the medium of publishing what it described as "malicious and unethical" content aimed at discrediting the Service.

The DSS on Wednesday, condemned what it called "a growing trend of reckless journalism" that undermines the integrity of national security institutions for selfish or political motives.

“The DSS will not succumb to the antics of media organisations that are bent on dragging security agencies into disrepute through false, misleading, and malicious publications,” the statement read. “We consider the recent report by Peoples Gazette as not only defamatory but a direct attempt to erode public trust in the Service.”

Reacting to the development, social engineer Michael Sunday expressed strong support for the DSS, applauding the agency’s decision to seek legal redress. In his words, "Peoples Gazette don buy market. DSS will not succumb to such malicious publications. The recklessness in throwing agencies under the bus for selfish motives must be addressed. It is time that such unethical acts are dealt with. We go jam for court!" He described the move as a necessary step towards curbing irresponsible journalism and protecting the credibility of national institutions.

While the DSS did not disclose the specific content of the offending publication, it reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing legal redress, stating that it is "high time unethical media practices are decisively addressed in accordance with the law."

“We will meet them in court,” the agency declared, signaling an uncompromising stance on the matter.

The development has sparked renewed debate on the balance between press freedom and responsible journalism, especially concerning national security and institutional integrity.

Efforts to obtain a response from Peoples Gazette were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
