The Nigeria Police Force has recorded another milestone on the global security stage as Commissioner of Police (CP) Olubode Ojajuni clinched victory in the keenly contested election for membership of the INTERPOL Africa Committee.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the election took place during the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. With this triumph, Nigeria now occupies the fifth seat on the Committee for a tenure of two years.

The INTERPOL Africa Committee plays a pivotal role in advising the African Regional Conference, guiding its sessions, and identifying strategic crime priorities. It also fosters cross-border police cooperation, promotes best practices, and develops initiatives aimed at strengthening regional and continental security.

This development, the Force said, underscores Nigeria’s growing leadership in global law enforcement, particularly in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, cybercrime, and other emerging security threats.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, in his congratulatory message, lauded CP Ojajuni’s election as a recognition of the Nigeria Police Force’s professionalism and international relevance. He reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to integrity, capacity-building, and active collaboration with international partners to safeguard peace and security worldwide.

With CP Ojajuni’s election, Nigeria is poised to play a more influential role in shaping policing strategies and strengthening the continent’s security architecture under the INTERPOL framework.
