The Resident Representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ambassador Ngozi Ukaeje, has applauded Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, for his pivotal role in promoting stability and development across West Africa.
Ambassador Ukaeje gave the commendation on Thursday, August 21, 2025, during her official visit to the Nigerian Contingent (NIGCON 4) in Guinea-Bissau. The visit marked the formal reception of newly deployed Nigerian troops following the successful rotation from NIGCOY 3.
She praised General Musa’s dedication and support in facilitating the deployment, stressing that his commitment reflects Nigeria’s leadership in regional peacekeeping.
“I am proud of the Chief of Defence Staff and his unwavering support. I am equally pleased to interact with our gallant troops of NIGCON 4, as a fellow Nigerian,” she said.
Ambassador Ukaeje urged the troops to uphold professionalism and discipline in discharging their duties, noting that their conduct would shape the image of both Nigeria and ECOWAS. With Guinea-Bissau preparing for crucial presidential and parliamentary elections, she advised the peacekeepers to remain neutral, vigilant, and committed to their stabilization mandate.
“Your actions will speak louder than your words. Let your conduct reflect your mission of stabilization support and your commitment to peace,” she emphasized.
In the same vein, the ECOWAS envoy visited the Ghanaian Contingent (GHANCOY 4) to welcome their newly deployed troops after a seamless rotation with GHANCOY 3. She commended their professionalism during the transition and reminded them of the sensitive nature of their duties during the election period.
“Many eyes are on you during this period. Let your actions demonstrate your mission of stabilization support,” she advised.
Ambassador Ukaeje concluded by wishing both contingents a successful and impactful tenure in Guinea-Bissau.
