The Nigerian Army’s 82 Division has launched an investigation into a recent encounter between its personnel and civilians along the Nsukka–Igbo Eze South Road in ⁸nugu State.

The incident, which was captured in a video circulating on social media, occurred during a routine security check by troops deployed to Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area.

Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, said the Division takes all reports of misconduct seriously and has instituted a thorough probe to establish the facts.

He assured that the findings of the investigation will be made public and that any personnel found guilty will face disciplinary measures in line with military regulations.

Ayeni stressed that while security checks are vital for public safety, the Army remains committed to professionalism, strict adherence to its Rules of Engagement, and fostering positive civil-military relations.

“We appreciate the public’s vigilance and the media’s role in bringing this matter to our attention,” he added.
