Regional Security: Military to Expand Operation AWATSE to Boost Security in Oyo, Ondo

The Nigerian military has concluded plan to expand Operation AWATSE's area of responsibility to improve regional security in Oyo and Ondo States.

This was revealed when Brigadier General AO Solarin, the Deputy Director of Search and Rescue from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), led the DHQ Operational Assessment Team on(a courtesy visit to Rear Admiral MG Oamen, the Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command (FOC WNC), at the Command Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos State.

This visit took place  on Thursday, 10 July 2025,was part of an ongoing evaluation to assess compliance with the directives of the Joint Task Force Operation AWATSE. 

In his remarks, the FOC expressed appreciation to the DHQ team for their visit and support of the Joint Task Force Operation.

He also emphasized the need to expand Area of Responsibility of Operation AWATSE to include units from Oyo and Ondo States to improve regional security.
