The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Musa, has called on parents and guardians to actively seek out real-life opportunities that will help young people acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today’s competitive society.
Speaking during a DEPOWA School first drama production in Abuja, Mrs. Musa ably represented by Deputy President DEPOWA Dr. Mrs Bukola Olatunde, stressed the importance of early exposure to practical skills and personal development programs that go beyond the classroom.
“Opportunity, they say, is gold,” she noted. “Let me encourage our parents and guardians to always seek real-life opportunities to equip these young ones with the various skills and knowledge necessary to stand out in society.”
She emphasized that in an ever-evolving world, the ability of young people to succeed depends largely on the support and preparation they receive at home.
"I am exceptionally thrilled like everyone else who watched the play from beginning to the end. Indeed, the children have demonstrated capacity, flexibility, willingness to learn as well as good team spirit in all the scenes presented.
"I was reliably informed that the school management rescheduled last Friday’s exam to Monday, 21 Jul 2025, in order to have ample time to perfect every role in the production. Despite the limited time for rehearsals, you have all performed beautifully well.
"My special thanks goes to the education committee, who taught it wise to engage the children in this might. I also want to appreciate the teachers and the entire management of the school for all the efforts put in place to ensure that this event is adjudged success."she said
The DEPOWA President further highlighted the role of the association in promoting youth development through various empowerment initiatives, workshops, and skill acquisition programs.
Mrs. Musa reaffirmed DEPOWA’s commitment to supporting military and police families by providing platforms that promote education, resilience, and long-term growth for children and youths under their care.
