Security, Trade Top Agenda at 10th Round of Nigeria-Switzerland Political Consultations

The 10th Round of the Nigeria-Switzerland Political Consultations took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 25th June 2025. 

The Nigerian delegation was led by the Director, Regions, Ambassador Janet Olisa, OON, while the Swiss delegation was led by Director for Africa, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (Swiss Foreign Ministry), Ambassador Philipp Stalder.

Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa said in a press statement that Nigeria and Switzerland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 8th March, 2016, regarding the establishment of an annual process of Nigeria-Switzerland Bilateral Consultations at the diplomatic level, as a useful mechanism to strengthen relations between the two countries.

He explained that since then, the platform has become a viable medium for increased engagements and collaboration on bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest between the two friendly countries. 

The just-concluded consultations considered a wide range of issues such as trade and investment, legal cooperation, peace, security, and humanitarian matters amongst others.
