The World Institute for Peace (WIP) has announced details of its annual international event, the “World Peace Conference and Award Nigeria 2025,” scheduled for June 20, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the Nigerian Army Resource Center in Abuja.
In a statement released on Saturday by WIP Executive Director Lamina Omotoyosi, it was revealed that General Christopher Gwabim Musa, Chief of Defence Staff of the Nigerian Armed Forces, will be honored with the prestigious “Bearer of Security Torch (TBST)” award.
The event will also mark the launch of a major new publication titled Fundamentals of Peace Education and Sustainable Solutions to Insecurity in Nigeria: General CG Musa’s Perspectives.
Among the distinguished guests expected are Ambassador Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd), CFR, former Chief of Army Staff and former Extraordinary Ambassador to Benin Republic, and Lieutenant General Lamidi O. Adeosun (Rtd), CFR, former Chief of Policy and Plans of the Nigerian Army, who will serve as Special Guests of Honour.
The conference will feature notable speakers, including Professor Mahfouz Adedimeji, Vice Chancellor of the African School of Economics, Abuja, and Professor Joy Chinwe Eyisi, the first female Deputy Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria.
In addition to General Musa, several prominent individuals will be conferred with the title Knights of World Peace (KWP). Among the awardees are His Royal Majesty Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, Timi of Ede; His Royal Majesty Oba Ademola Ajibola Julius, Olusin of Ijara-Isin; Pastor Hillary Chukwuma; Oluwafeyijinmi Oyinlola; and Alhaji Muhthior Aburagbaja. Others honored include Alhaja Medinat Hamzat and Mrs. Adeyoju Adebimpe Lucia-Fagbohun.
The event will also highlight contributions from Ambassadors of the World Institute for Peace representing countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, India, Greece, and Belgium, underscoring a global commitment to peace and security.
“As the date approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be a landmark event in the pursuit of peace and security in Nigeria and beyond,” the statement concluded.
