The Lagos Police said, the Nigerian Army has arrested a suspect in connection with the kidnapped and murdered an undergraduate in Lagos, Nigeria commercial city.
The victim, Christiana Idowu - 21-year-old undergraduate of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (Funaab), Ogun State.
Police say the suspect allegedly collected ransom from Idowu Christianah's parents.
Lagos Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said Nigerian Army carried out the operation and they will soon hand over the suspect to police for prosecution.
SpyeTV News reports in August that Christianah was declared missing and all efforts to find her proved abortive. Reports says Christianah was going to Unilag from Itaoluwa through Yaba on the day she disappeared.
As the story begin to trend more details begin to unfold. Students Union government of her school released a notice that the people that kidnapped their colleague stopped picking calls. They called for prayers from their fellow students to ensure her release.
A cousin to Christiana posted online that she heard that her cousin has died. She added that the victim mother died nine years ago when the girl was 12 years old.
Family sources said the suspect, one Adeleye Ayomide reach out to her parents for ransom of three million naira ($18,000) in which the parents negotiated and agreed to pay 350,000 Naira.
Reports revealed that the family paid the money to the account of the suspect, but after the transaction, the suspect stopped picking their calls.
Security operatives used the account number that received the ransom payment traced the BVN of the suspect. it has two numbers and they used the numbers tracked him to his parents house at Ikorodu area of Lagos.
After arrest, they found the victims phone number on the suspect mobile phone and also find details of the money transaction related to the kidnapping incident.
He allegedly confessed to the father of thegirl and security agencies that he murdered the victim and buried her at a shallow grave inside his compound.
Further investigation rrevealed that the victim and the suspect are friends, they worshipped in the same church and are friends on social media.
