Thieves Burgle Abandoned FMBN Estate In Abuja Suburb, Kill Security Man

A security guard has been killed and valuable materials stolen during a break-in at the abandoned Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) estate in Bwari in the early hours of Friday.

The incident occurred when thieves gained entry into the unfenced and ungated premises and overpowered the security guard on duty when he tried to stop them.

The stolen materials included windows and other building components.

The FMBN estate in Bwari has been abandoned for several years, and its condition has deteriorated significantly.

The estate was jointly funded by the FMBN and the Federal Housing Authority, with Luxiar Construction Limited as the developer.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of the area. Residents of nearby communities have expressed worry about potential further criminal activity.

The FMBN and Federal Housing Authority are urged to take steps to secure the estate and determine the best course of action for the project’s future.

The estate management and other authorities have been notified, but no arrests have been made.
