Just In: One Bandit Killed, 2 Soldiers Injured In Niger State Military Base Attack

Two soldiers have reportedly sustained gunshot injuries, while a bandit leader said to be holding the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State and its environs to ransom has been killed during an attack launched at a military base at Tegina, in the state.

According to military intelligence, the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 10, 2024, when, the terrorists were crossing to Mashegu and Wushishi Local Government Areas. 

Confirming the attack, the Chairman, of Rafi Local Government Council, Alhaji Ayuba Usman Katako, said the injured soldiers were responding to treatment at IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna.

According to Katako, the military, police, and members of the vigilante are trying their best to ensure peace and security of lives and property in the state, and deserve to be commended.

He further decried the continuous, unexpected attacks on security personnel.

He calls for patience, support and prayers to overcome the menace of insecurity bedevilling the state and Nigeria at large.

Military authorities in the state said they would confirm and revert on the authenticity of the report.

Rafi is a Local Government Area in Niger State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Kagara on the A125 highway. The southern border of the area is the Kaduna River. Towns in the LGA include Tegina, and Pandogari and these towns have been in the announcement for various attacks since 2020 after the abduction of a foreign national and a Nigerian by suspected bandits between Yankila and Regina village of Rafi Local Government Area of the state who were later found dead.
