NAF at 60: Architect Mrs. Abubakar Flags Off NAFOWA Skills Acquisition Program, Empowers 150 Women


The Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association NAFOWA in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, will teach, enhance, and impart new skills, ideas, and vocation to 150 members of NAFOWA, AWA and dependent of the NAF fallen heroes. 

President, NAFOWA, Architect Mrs. Rakiya Abubakar announced this today, 16th May 2024 at the flag-off ceremony of the NAFOWA skills acquisition program in commemoration of Nigerian Air Force at 60.

This initiative, according to Architect Mrs. Rakiya Abubakar stems the Association’s desire to impact positively and promote the well-being of the beneficiaries as NAFOWA unlocks the opportunity for individuals seeking to enhance their skills and learn new vocations. 

NAFOWA President declaring the NAFOWA skills acquisition in commemoration of NAF at 60 open stressed that the skills acquisition is not limited to technical skills alone. Participants will also learn essential life skills such as communications and time management. 

She added that, they will be taught how to market their finished products, including export strategies. "We believe these skills will help our beneficiaries navigate life’s challenges, build meaningful relationships, and contribute positively to societal growth.

She therefore urged the beneficiaries to embrace this experience with enthusiasm, commitment, and utmost dedication. "I have no doubt that you will take full advantage of this opportunity to enhance your socio-economic and personal’ wellbeing. Additionally, the beneficiaries will be invited to future Skills acquisition program to share their expertise and what they have learned with others."

NAFOWA President urged resource persons and vendors to diligently support this noble cause. She extended her sincere appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar Distinguish Flying Star for his continuous support and generous assistance to NAFOWA. 

Skills acquisition remains a significant component, playing a vital role in the socioeconomic growth of any society. It equips individuals with confidence and security of livelihood, reduces dependency, and, above all, alleviates poverty and social inequality.
