N25m Bounty Placed on Suspected Terrorists Who Killed Soldiers in Abia

The Abia State Government has placed N25 million reward for anyone with useful information that could lead to the location and arrest of the suspected terrorists involved in the killing of five soldiers at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Areas in the state.

This was announced on Friday by the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu.

While disclosing the state government’s resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice, Kanu said, “the State Government is offering a N25 million (Twenty-five Million Naira) reward to anyone with useful information that could lead to the location and arrest of any of the criminals connected to the unfortunate killings, and the subsequent state of apprehension across the city of Aba and environs”.

“The security formations in the State have been directed to treat informants with all the confidentiality required to guarantee their full cooperation and assistance until the criminals are fully apprehended and brought to book.”

SpyeTV News had reported that the troops of OP UDO KA deployed at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Areas adjourning Aba metropolis in Abia State were attacked and sadly killed by terrorist of IPOB/ ESN.

According to the statement released earlier by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, the troops deployed to enforce peace in the area and protect the citizens were massed attacked by the terrorists.

He said, the terrorists in 3 tinted Prado Toyota SUVs and others from built-up areas surrounding the checkpoint, sprang a surprise attack on the checkpoint, and killed five military personnel in the process.

He also informed that six civilians were killed in the crossfire between the terrorists and the troops, vowing that the military would be fierce in its response.

However, the South-East Governors, under the umbrella of the South-East Governors’ Forum had condemned the brutal attack on soldiers.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma condemned the attack in a statement on Friday.

While describing the attack as reprehensible, Uzodimma called for thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
