Nigeria: In a significant breakthrough, Adamu Muhammad, a notorious Boko Haram terrorist commander, and five other fighters have surrendered to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Sector 3, Monguno, Borno State, Nigeria.
The Chief Military Public Information Officer N’djamena -Chad Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi in a statement said, this development comes as Operation Lake Sanity II intensifies efforts, aimed at combating terrorism in the region.
According to the statement,the surrendered terrorists, who escaped from the ISWAP faction hideout in Jubillaram, Southern Lake Chad, include Adamu Muhammad 22, Isah Ali 18, Hassan Modu 18, Nasir Idris 23, Abba Aji 21, and Abubakar Isah 20.
Reports say the surrendered terrorists handed over ammunition and a warhead during their surrender. Adamu, the commander, had been involved in numerous terrorist attacks in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State. The surrendered fighters are currently undergoing investigation, bringing the total number of terrorists who have surrendered since the commencement of Operation Lake Sanity II to 119.
The MNJTF appeals to other terrorists to follow suit, lay down their arms, and embrace peace. The task force reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin region.
