The Defence Headquarters on Thursday advised Nigerians "not to agree" with the Criminals among them but to join hands with the military to fight them, he revealed how strikes and operations carried out by troops of the armed Forces of Nigeria resulted in the neutralization of over 86 terrorists, and their commanders and their foot soldiers, while 101 of them were arrested.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba unveiled a report on ongoing Military Operational Activities by the Armed Forces of Nigeria within one week today, 11th January 2024 at the media briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Major General Buba disclosed that during the week in focus, troops' aggressive operations equally resulted in the arrest of 30 perpetrators of oil theft and the rescue of 21 kidnapped hostages. In the South-South, troops denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of Seven Hundred and thirty-six thousand Million Naira (N736,000,00.00) only.
He also noted that troops recovered 63 assorted weapons and 411 assorted ammunition. Troops in the Niger Delta area destroyed 37 dugout pits, 65 boats, 71 storage tanks, 14 vehicles, 108 cooking ovens, and 60 illegal refining sites. Troops recovered large amounts of litres of stolen crude oil, and 3100 litres of illegally refined DPK.
The armed forces are hunting down prominent terrorist leadership and engaging them wherever they are hiding. These operations are being conducted in accordance with the laws of armed conflict and based on intelligence.
Our operations clearly indicate that we are hunting the terrorist commanders and their senior leadership. Indeed, from their topmost leadership to the lowest commanders are dead men walking and we will stop at nothing until they are dead or surrender.
The armed forces have demonstrated commitment by our actions to winning this war. Troops will therefore continue to act with tremendous force to achieve the task ahead.
