FACT CHECK: Viral Video of Woman Being Assaulted By Protesting Youths Not A Banker, Not Armed Robbers' Informant



A video where a woman was assaulted by some protesting youths, has been circulated on social media.

The video was recorded by one IT. OSIM shared the video on WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter, claiming that the incident took place recently in Lagos, Nigeria.

CLAIM: The video claimed the woman works in a Bank, and any time a customer comes to withdraw a huge sum of money, she will always alert robbers. 

Somehow she ran out of luck on that particular day. The robbers were caught and during interrogation, they exposed her as their main informant.

VERIFICATION: SpyeTV News spoke with the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi to verify the authentication of the video. He said, "This is not true, this was the woman police that was assaulted during Endsars at Denton police station in Lagos. The story is false. I have this video, and I have shared it once. Nooo. It's a woman police in Denton then, Please Disregard".

VERDICT: The woman in this viral video is not a banker but a Police Inspector who was a victim of violence in October 2020 and those youths have since been arrested and prosecuted.
