Troops Urged To Shun Drug Abuse, As Exercise Shinning Star Participants Graduate

The General Officer Commanding(GOC) 1 Division and Force Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH, Major General OT Akinjobi has enlightened the students on the dangers of drug abuse and an appropriate use of social Media. 

He further emphasized the need for troops to be thinking men to achieve their set goals in society. 

Maj Gen OT Akinjobi gave this advise on Fri 19 May 2023 at the graduation ceremony of participants of Exercise Shinning Star 3/23 at the Division Training School in Kaduna.

While addressing the students, the Special Guest of Honor, Maj Gen OT Akinjobi congratulated the students for the successful completion of eight weeks of intensive training. He further noted that the training was aimed at preparing the participants for the task ahead. 

He added that it was the leaders' responsibility to provide the necessary training for troops. General Akinjobi urged the participants to continue to develop themselves as they grow on the job and also build trust and friendship amongst themselves. 

Earlier in his welcome address, the Division Training Officer Brigadier General Anthony Wende noted that the aim of the training was to provide a harmonised post basic training. While making his remarks he added that the 8weeks training laid emphasis on tactical Drills, weapon handling, and live firing both at day and night. Gen Wende also appreciated the GOC for his enormous support in ensuring that all training materials were adequately provided.

Highpoints of the event were the campaign on planting of Trees, Demonstration on stripping and Assembling of AK 47, counter ambush Drills, and Rescue Mission.
