Incumbent Governor Buni Wins Guber Election in Yobe

Governor Mai-Mala Buni of Yobe State, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has won the Saturday's governorship election.

Buni scored 317,113 votes to defeat his closest rival and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sheriff Abdullahi, who polled 104,259 votes while the NNPP candidate, Garba Umar, came third with 14,246 votes.

Umaru Pate, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State and Returning Officer for the governorship election in Yobe state announced the results at the INEC headquarters in Damaturu on Sunday.

Pate said, “I, Professor Umar Pate hereby certify that Mai Mala Buni, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared winner of the election.”

Buni was first elected Yobe governor at the 2019 general election and is now re-elected for another four years tenure.
