Strikes by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Super Tucano fighter jets have killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists during their meeting in Sambisa Forest, Borno State.
The bombardment of terrorists is coming on the heels of the long week rivalry clash between Bok Haram and ISWAP groups which left scores of them killed.
This latest offensive was carried out on Friday Feb 10 in Gaizuwa in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State where massive numbers of Boko Haram terrorists were converging for a meeting in Gaizuwa on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest, 2 NAF Super Tukano aircraft under Operation Hadin Kai were scrambled to carry out strikes on the targets.
Intelligence Sources told a counter-insurgency expert and Security analyst in the Lake Chad region Zagazola Makama that on reaching overhead the targets, the pilots observed a gathering of more than 100 terrorists with dozens of them on motorcycles.
He explained that using a mix of bombs and rockets, the 2 aircraft carried out series of strikes and scored devastating hits on the targets, killing scores of them and leaving some survivors scrambling for their lives. The aircraft also destroyed several motorcycles and weapons of the terrorists.
Scores of terrorists are currently on the run following offensive. Some of the surviving fighters and their families who escaped the onslaught, were forced to lay down their arms and surrendered to the troops of 21 Amoured Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai Bama.
In another development, the Nigerian troops have cleared four suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts and killed 7 insurgents in the North East of Bama in Borno State.
In a clear demonstration of its determined efforts to speedily eliminate the Boko Haram, the troops of 21 Armoured Brigade in Collaboration with some Civilian Joint Task Force(CJTF), stormed and cleared some of the hideouts of the terrorists in Churchur, Mbaiwa, Kashimiri, China, as well as many other newly established villages, 10 Febuary 2023.
The troops made contact with the terrorists in the course of the offensive patrol and eliminated 7 of them.
The sources said that other terrorists fled their enclaves, leaving behind women, children and the old age.
He added that troops successfully burnt down the entire enclaves and rescued some of the women and their children.
