Military Confirms Death of Soldier Who Killed Female Aid Worker and Injured UN Staff in Borno

The Nigerian military on Thursday has confirmed that the Troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade of Operation HADIN KAI have reportedly gundown an errant personnel who shot and killed a staff of one of the NGOs providing humanitarian support in the North East. 

Assistant Director, Army Public Relations. Headquarters Theatre Command, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom made this known in a press statement made available to SpyeTV News. 

It was gathered that the soldier, attached to the Special Forces had walked off his base in a remote town of Damboa, in Borno, at about 3:00 p.m. Thursday and went on a shooting rampage using an Ak47 riffle.

According the Major Samson Nantip Zhakom stated that, "the Theatre Command  regrets to inform the public of a sad occurrence at one of our military base today. 

He said, same soldier also killed another soldier and injured the co-pilot of one of the UN helicopters. . 

"The injured co-pilot has been stabilized while the corpses of the deceased have been moved to the 7 Division Hospital. 

Detailed investigation into the incident and subsequent remedial actions have commenced into the highly regrettable incident. Further details will be provided later
