The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commamder Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Major General Waidi Shaibu has charged troops of 7 Division to redouble their efforts, remain discipline and loyal to the Nigerian Army towards wining the ongoing fight against insurgents and insurgency in the North East Theatre of Operation.
General Shaibu stated this on Friday, 14 October, 2022 at Headquarters 7 Division while decorating 37 Soldiers who benefitted from the 2022 Private to Warrant Officers' Promotion Exercise which was graciously approved by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya.
While congratulating the soldiers for their well deserved promotion, he stated that promotion is a mark of recognition for hardwork, dedication to duties and adherence to the tenets of the profession as enshrined in the Customs, Ethics and Tradition of the Nigerian Army adding that, this recognition calls for more work at all levels and any act of unprofessionalism will be dealt with severe sanctions in accordance with the standard operational procedures of the NA.
He therefore, implore them to reciprocate the gesture, respect and take care of their families in their new status while performing their constitutional roles with renewed vigour, zeal and patriotism.
Senior officers as well as senior colleagues to the newly decorated soldiers at the occasion gave words of wisdom and advice to the soldiers to ensure they live up to expectations at all times while maintaining the standard of discipline, regimentation and professionalism the Division is known for been the linchpin in the fight against Boko Haram Terrorists and their ISWAP counterparts.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the newly decorated soldiers, Staff Sergeant Yakubu Abubakar appreciated God for the gift of Life and the COAS for approving their promotion and promised to do their utmost best towards actualising the vision of the COAS which is to have " A Profeessional Nigerian Army, ready to Accomplished Assigned Mission withing A Joint Environment in the Defence of Nigeria" .
He also extend their unreserved appreciation and gratitude to the GOC for recommending them for promotion to their respective new ranks.
He said the sterling leadership qualities and commitment of the GOC towards the general welfare of troops is highly felt and seen within the Division and the cantonment in general and added that they will continue to remain loyal and committed to their duties and contribute meaningfully to the success of the Division.
The highpoints of the occasion was the decoration of 2 Sergeants to the rank of Staff Sergeants, 4 Corporals to the rank of Sergeants, 13 Lance Corporals to the rank of Corporals and 18 Privates to the rank of Lance Corporal respectively. It was followed by words of advice from senior officers and Senior NCOs, remarks by the GOC and group photograph.
The occasion was attended by the Chief of Staff Headquarters 7 Divison, Brigadier General OM Oyekola, Principal Staff Officers of 7 Division, Formations and Unit Commanders, troops of the Division as well as families and well wishers of the newly promoted soldiers.
