The Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki has assuring of his government’s support and collaboration with the Nigerian Army to ensure the security of lives and property of citizens of the state.
He made this known when he received the Commander 4 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Brigadier General Danlami Hyelni Ndahi on Monday, 29 August 2022.
Obaseki, who received the new commander 4 Brigade and his entourage, who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City, hailed the Command for its role in strengthening the state’s security architecture, ensuring peace, unity and security across communities in Edo and its environs.
The governor said, "We welcome the new commander of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army in the State. The Brigade has been an integral part of the state security architecture as the state has enjoyed tremendous support from the Brigade for a very long time. I assure the new army commander that this administration is open. I want to assure you that you are home and should see yourself as one of us.”
Obaseki said refurbishment of some buildings are ongoing at the Ekenwan Barracks, urging the new commander to collaborate with his administration to ensure the completion of the projects.
He added, "We have made a commitment to help fix some blocks of accommodation at the Ekenwan Barracks for some officers who are having problems with accommodation. "We will also be relying on you to give us support to secure, protect and improve security in our waterways in Edo State.”
Speaking earlier, General Danlami Ndahi said, “As the Chief Executive Officer and Chief security officer of Edo, I need to pay you a courtesy visit so you know me.
“My predecessor has told me of your collaboration with the command in ensuring security of the State. I will do my best to improve on the work of my predecessor.”
Highlights of visit were presentation of souvenir and group Photograph, others important dignitaries that grace the visit were member of Edo state Executive Council, Chief of Staff 4 Brigade Colonel W Diriyai, commanders and 4 brigade Staff Principal Officers.
