The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and other security agencies have continued to synergize and pull their resources together towards ensuring that terrorists, insurgents and other criminal elements are completely eliminated for the sake of peace and security of the nation.
In particular, Nigerian Air Force aircraft have remained a critical factor in the counterterrorism and counterinsurgency strategies and efforts currently ongoing in the various theatres of operation nationwide.
Indeed as recent as, 20 August 2022, NAF aircraft under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI carried out some strikes on terrorists enclave in Sambisa Forest and the Tumbuns in Borno State with varying degrees of success recorded.

The Nigerian Military on Sunday has said Headquarters Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai in collaboration with Yobe State Police Command have started carrying out investigation to unravel the identity of the suspected soldiers over the murder of an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Goni Gashua.
The Sector 2 Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Captain Kennedy Anyanwu in a press statement made available to SpyeTV News revealed that the Sector 2 has instituted a Board of Inquiry to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.
Anyanwu added that at the end of the investigation, the soldiers will be made to face the full wrath of both military and civil laws

One terrorist has been killed and an informant arrested after police raided a hideout for criminals in Katsina State.
A ring leader identified as Sule Dawa is said to have escaped with gunshot wounds following the raid which took place at Mai-Zuma Village in Danja Local Government Area of the State.
During the incursion, several weapons along with two motorcycles and illicit substances suspected to be Indian hemp belonging to the terrorists, were recovered.
In addition, a 20-year-old notorious terrorist, Yusuf Monore, in the Galadimawa forest was arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command in Giwa Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige, said that after a fierce gun battle with policemen, items recovered from the terrorists include two AK-47 and AK-49 rifles with five rounds of live 7.62 X 39mm ammunition as well as three smartphones and a torch.
And on Sunday, Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA in series of interdiction operations in the past week intercepted over 2.3million tablets of illicit pharmaceutical opioids and other psychoactive substances meant for distribution in seven Northern states of Borno, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, Gombe and Nasarawa.
Femi Babafemi, Director, Media & Advocacy in a statement on Sunday explained that in all, a total of Two Million Three Hundred and Twenty Five Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty Three (2, 325, 553.00) tablets and capsules of Tramadol, Pregabalin, Hypnox, Diazepam and Exol-5 including 7, 353 bottles of a new psychoactive substance locally called Akuskura meant for the seven states were seized from locations across Kaduna, Kogi, Sokoto, and the FCT.

And also, The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Force Commander (FC), Maj Gen Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim has appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Chad, to look at how they could key into the resettlement of displaced persons to their homes, adding that the MNJTF and the political leaders were already in the forefront.
General Ibrahim said this on Tuesday 23 August 2022 when a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Chad, led by the Chief of Operation, Mr Alfa Mamadu Djalo visited the Headquarters Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Djamena Chad.
The Force Commander informed the delegation of one of the MNJTF's mandates which is to ensure that displaced person's are resettled back to their ancestral homes. The Governor of Lagos State Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu has urged the Nigerian Army to continue to efficiently train her personnel in order to sustain its combat readiness posture as it fights current security challenges in the country.
The Governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde, gave the words of encouragement during his keynote address at the 23rd Combat Service Support (CSSC) Training Week, held today 22 August 2022 at NEBO Hall, Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Abati Barracks, Lagos.
Army Spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu in a press statement on Tuesday said, the training week, with the theme, "Building the capacity of Nigerian Army Combat Service Support Corps (CSSC) in combating contemporary security challenges in joint environment", is aimed at sharpening the logistics management expertise of Army logisticians.
Also, The Yobe State Police command have paraded two suspected soldiers and three others in connection to the alleged murder of Islamic cleric, Sheikh Goni Aisami-Gashua along Gashua-Kano road in the state.
The soldiers are Lance Corporal John Gabriel with number N/A13/69/1522 and Lance Corporal Adamu Gideon with number N/A13/70/6552 both of Recce battalion Nguru, Yobe state.
Police spokesperson Dungus Abdulkarim said the suspects will be charged to court.

The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Wednesday accredited 13 Foreign Defence Advisers and Attaches posted to Nigeria by their respective nations.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Maj.-Gen. Samuel Adebayo, said the accreditation placed a stamp of authority and approval on their posting to Nigeria.

Minister of Police Affairs, Dr Mohammad Maigari Dingyadi handed about 10,635 bullet-proof vests, and other protective kits to the Nigeria Police Force for optimal performance
the protective kits include 6,70 ballistics helmet and 4,400 safety boxes/first aids kits and were received by the Inspector General of Police IGP Alkali Usman Baba to enhance the operation of the Nigeria Police Force.
the minister said that the items were procured by the ministry for the Nigeria Police Force, under its 2022 capital budget.
Responding, the IGP thanked President Buhari, National Assembly, and the ministry for assisting the force with operational tools.

The Defence Headquarters on Thursday has confirmed the killing of a high profile commander known as Uzaifa, who was the ‘MINZIR’, which connotes the fourth in line of the terrorist leadership structure after an air strikes by air component of Operation HADIN KAI on 20 August 2022 on terrorists enclaves in Sambisa forest and the Tumbuns in Borno State.
Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami stated this at a press briefing that feedback revealed that 25 of the terrorists were neutralized in the strikes with 18 seriously wounded.

in a bid to curb child terrorism and exploitation in Nigeria, The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has promised to inculcate the peace club initiative in all NAF Schools nationwide, pledged to support the Nigerian Children’s Parliament in its quest to minimize the vulnerability of children and protecting them against all forms of terrorism.

He added that, ” The following items were recovered from the fake soldier and his supplier: four pairs of military camouflage uniform, nine live cartridges, military identity cards, police accoutrements and charms.
Also on Friday, Two supernumerary police officers were suspended by the Nigeria Police for “discreditable conduct” and violation of the Force’s social media policy.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Friday that the officers, both female, were suspended with immediate effect “for breach of the provisions of the Police Act, 2020, and The Nigeria Police Guidelines for Recruitment/Promotion/Discipline of Supernumerary Police (SPY) 2013 by the Inspector-General of Police, as captured in a video posted by one of the officers”.
On Saturday
The Nigerian Army has dismissed two soldiers over the murder of an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Goni Aisami Gashua, in Yobe State.
The dismissed soldiers include Lance Corporal John Gabriel and Lance Corporal Adamu Gideon.
In a statement on Saturday, the Army Spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu said, the soldiers were dismissed after facing trial at the Headquarters 241 Recce Battalion, Nguru on Saturday 27 August 2022, having been indicted in a report of a Board of Inquiry set up to investigate the unfortunate incident.
Both of them were found guilty and awarded reduction of rank from Lance Corporal to Private and Dismissed Regiments.
The two dismissed soldiers will be officially handed over to the Nigeria Police, Yobe State Command in Damaturu for civil prosecution in the court of law.
And lastly: Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a cleaner at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos, Ohiagu Sunday, who leads a drug syndicate at the international wing of the airport.
In a press statement on Sunday, Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi dosclosed that, he was nabbed on Tuesday 23rd August following the arrest of an intending passenger on Airpeace flight to Dubai, UAE, Obinna Jacob Osita who was arrested with three bags, two of which contained eight blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 4.25kg concealed in cassava product, gari and crayfish
