The Non-kinetic efforts, involving the citizenry, civil society, non governmental organization as well as private and other government organizations would obviously compliment kinetic military deployment to achieve desired victory over the enemies of our country Nigeria.
The Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor said this on Tuesday in his goodwill message at the ongoing Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Citizens Summit for National Integration, Peace and Security in Abuja.
The CDS who was represented by Real Admiral Adeseye Oke Ayobanjo, Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations, Defence Headquarters noted that counter terrorism and counter Insurgency requires 80% non kinetic efforts, while military kinetic effort is 20% because military kinetic effort alone cannot comprehensively win the war against terrorists and various criminalities.
He noted that the ongoing kinetic effort by the armed forces to defeat terrorists and flush criminal elements in Nigeria needs the support and encouragement of all Nigerians.
General Irabor commends the institution NIPR for consciously designing this summit to achieve the key objectives of creating a platform to generate sustainable ideas and implementable solutions to address some of the current challenges of our nationhood, especially the cross country road conflict, breakdown of relationship and trust gap amongst citizens.
He opined that all Nigerians has collective and individual roles to play to win the war against terrorists and enemies of our dear country. This patriotic responsibility is in tune with the saying " security is everyone's business".
He added that, the ongoing military operations across the country makes building of public trust and forestalling of friendship and goodwill across various stakeholders very critical.
The CDS said the NIPR over the years commendably discharge its statutory professional mandate of regulating the practice and efficiently directing the development of Public Relations as a profession in Nigeria.
"No doubt these continue noble effort by NIPR has meant to forstil understanding, promoting, respect, building goodwill, creating friendships and strengthen relationship amongst public relations practitioners and stakeholders in the Nigeria society and beyond.
"Leveraging on this, the defence headquarters and by extension the armed forces of Nigeria is proud to be associated with the NIPR's landmark achievement and particularly formutting and posting days significant and timely summit for national integration, peace and security.
Notably with the prevalent security challenges threatening the peace and tranquility the good people of Nigeria, the armed forces of Nigeria is unequivocally committed to discharging its constitutionql mandate of defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria.
General Irabor stressed that the Defence headquarters is highly optimistic that this summit will allow participants and delegates to brainstorm and come up with valuable ideas and solutions to prevailing security challenges.
He assured Nigerians of military continues support to assist NIPR' s effort in building and promoting goodwill and forestall mutual understanding among each practitioners and various stakeholders.
In his keynote address, Chief Audu Ogeh charges participants to stop using foreign goods, said, 80% of Nigerians have imported items on the use of foreign items and goods, increased in importation that killed the Nigeria made value within the shortest time.
Chief Ogeh who spoke on importation, economy, security, politics and Democracy, Racism and Local government autonomy, laments on the poor livelihood in ruler AREAS.
He opined that every political parties must hold conference annually at State and federal levels, in order for elected public officer holders to account for their stewardship.
He advised Nigerians to invest in industrial development rather than politics. He lament on the state of the economy and challenged members of the apex assembly why Dollar is more relevant in' Nigeria than our currency.
Dignitaries from security agencies and government parastatals including members of NIPR nationwide weren't attendance.
