Army Guard's Brigade Flags Off 2022 Inter Unit Competition To Improve Leadership Qualities, Teamwork Among Personnel

In line with the Headquarters Nigerian Army Training Directive and Guards Brigade Training Program for 2022, the Brigade today, 20 June 2022, flagged off this year's Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition at the 7 Guards Battalion parade Ground, Lungi Barracks, Maitama Abuja.

The four days event is aimed at improving leadership qualities, organisational ability as well as teamwork among the Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers within the Brigade. The competition would feature Drill, Weapon Handling, Combat Work and Map Reading.

Declaring open the four days event, the Commander Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Muhammed Takuti Usman represented by the Chief of Staff Guard's Brigade, Col Oludele Peter Oyegoke while welcoming the participating units under the Brigade noted that the competition had become integral for the sustenance of discipline and leadership among Warrant Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Personnel.

He emphasized that the Competition would also be used to acertain areas of weakness as well as strength of the the Soldiers within the Senior Non Commissioned cadre and equally build the capacity of the participating units. 

Brigadier General Usman said the competition is the second in the series for the year 2022 which is designed to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and therefore called on all participants to exhibit and showcase a high standard of discipline and alertness expected of units under the Brigade.

The participating units are 7 Guard's Battalion located in Lungi Barracks, Maitama,176 Guard's Battalion Gwagwalada FCT Abuja, 177 Guards Battalion Keffi, Nasarawa state, 102 Guard's Battalion located in Suleja Niger state and the Guards Brigade Garrison located in Mambilla Barracks, Asokoro Abuja.

The ongoing event was witnessed by Staff Officers and personnel drawn from across the units of the Brigade as well as the Barracks community.
