Cultural Heritage in Display as Army War College Nigeria Launches International Day For Course 6/2022

In a bid to broadening the scope of its engagement, and cross fertilization of ideas needed in professional military education with an international outlook, the Army War College Nigeria has introduced International Day for Participants of Army War College Nigeria Course 6/2022. 

The event which took place on Saturday 21st May, 2022 is the maiden edition for the participants of Course 6/2022 of the higher military strategy and management course.

The international Day featured different cultural identities, groups, symbols in display from the geo-political zones of the country Nigeria including participants from Allied Nations who are currently on training for the Higher Military Strategy and Management Course in Nigeria. 

Speaking to journalists shortly after the event, the Special guest of Honor, Major General Adekunle Adigun Adesope, Chief of Account and Budget (Army) said, the international day was organized to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the 6 geo-political zones of Nigeria and also the culture of some allied students representing their country in Nigeria. 

Major General Adesope added that  the significance of the international day is to show togetherness "having inspected all the stands shows that, we eat the same food, similar culture and values, the difference is how these food are being prepared. The event also show that our diversity is also a blessing because diversity in Nigeria is a blessing to us and we also see it in other countries". 

He said, the aim is to wine down a bit from their rigorous academy lectures and to allow them witness what other countries have in terms of cultural heritage. 

The Chief host, Commandant Army War College Nigeria, Major General Bamidele Alabi while welcoming special guests and participants said the maiden edition of International day for Participants of Army War College Nigeria Course 6/2022 is enable an informal settings for the participants most especially the allied  participants who have no formal outlet to enlighten the audience about their countries, thereby depriving them the valueble piece of knowledge.

He said, like the COAS, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya (Nigerian Army Medal) said while inaugurating the Course 6/2022 "The Army War College Nigeria is clearly fast becoming a destination of Choice for Armed Forces of several countries of Africa and beyond".

While much is done to ensure all participants are abreast with the Nigeria's Geo-strategic environment through visits, Tours and presentations.

Highlight of the event is presentation of souvenirs to High Commissioner Gambia, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Njie, High Commissioner Rwanda, Ambassador Stanislaus Kamanzi, Representative of Liberia, Reverend Tiunde J Spence, Representative of Ambassador of Congo, Mrs Bibi Annick, and a former Commandant of the College Major Gen AG Okunlola (Retd).

Others are, Major General HT Dada, Representative of Chief of Special Services and Programmes (Army) who is also the College former Commandant Major General SE Udounwa Represented by Brig.Gen AA Tawasimi, Representative of Cads Bde Commandants Col OP Oyegoke, then Director of Logistics NDC (member of external Faculty) Brig. Gen AA Fadayiro, DA Designate Nigeria Embassy Riyad Saudi Arabia (member external faculty), and Representative of Chief of Training (Army) Col Waziri.
