OSMA 7th General Assembly Delegates Approve 2nd Sahel Solidarity Military Games For Peace in Chad

The Chief Delegates of the 7th General Assembly of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) have approved the 2nd Edition of the OSMA Solidarity Games for peace for countries of the Sahel and Lake Chad region in Njamena.

The OSMA President, Major General MAIKANO Abdullahi (Nigeria) who presided over the working sessions of the meeting at the 7th General Assembly in Freetown,  Sierra Leone disclosed this to Spye News (Nigeria) on Tuesday 1st f March, 2022 when the team paid him a courtesy visit at the OSMA (Nigeria) office in Abuja.

General Abdullahi said the Chief delegates and delegates from 18 member countries took part in the deliberations physically while 5, participated vio zoom, Angola, Burkina Faso Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zoom) Céte d'ivore Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Conakry,  Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Mourtonia, Niger (Zoom), Nigeria, Republic of Congo (Zoom), Senegal, Sierra Leone , South Africa (Zoom), Tanzania  Tunisia (Zoom), Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. 

Abdullahi revealed that the delegates at the 7th General Assembly after the review of first edition of Sahel Military Games which was held in Nigeria featured three sports, namely football, golf and marathon, okay the second edition to be held in Chad will include, among others, a range of combat.

The Chief Delegates  and delegates at the GA also reveiw some of  OSMA sporting activities like African Military Games (AMG), African Military Football Cup (CAMFOOT), African Military Basketball Championship (CAMBASKET), African Military Boxing Championship (CAMBOXE), African Military Handball Championship (CAMHAND), African Military Volleyball Championship (CAMVOLLEY), African Military Judo Championship (CAMJUDO), African Military Athletics Championship, (CAMATHLETISME), and African Military Cross Country Championship.

He explained that, the working session of the 7th OSMA General Assembly in Freetown, Sierra Leone saw the presentation activity report of Secretary general OSMA, Election of the OSMA secretary General, modification of OSMA statutes and revision of the composition of OSMA Board of Directors, African representative at the CISM Headquarters among Others.

The OSMA President, Maj Gen Maikano Abdullahi and other delegates also made a courtesy visit to the High Military and Civilian Authorities, and tour the Freetown city.

The opening ceremony of the 7th General Assembly was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Defense Colonel (Retd) Muona B MASSAQUO) in Freetown, Sierra Leone between the 19” to 27" February 2022 under the Patronage of His Excellency Brig. Gen Jullus MAADA BIO (Retd) and President of the Repubiic of Sierra Leone while Brigadier General Hervé Piccirilo, CISM President, Colonel Dorah Momby Koita, CISM Secretary General, Brigadier General Aboubacar Biro Condé, CISM African Board Member, Colonel Joseph Bakari, CISM Solidarity Manager were special guest of Honour.

In addition, CISM President, Brigadier General Hervé PICCIRILLO(France) thanked the Political and Military authorities for having accepted to host the statutory meeting. He went further to solicit for the African support in his candidature to run for a second term as President during the next CISM General Assembly in May 2022 in Limo, Peru.

Meanwhile, Secretary General Colonel Dorah MAMBY KOITA who was a guest at the 7th GA expressed his gratitude to all the OSMA Member Countries for their continuous support. 

He once more solicited for the African support for his reelection in the post of Secretary General. 

He further briefed the General Assembly that the CISM electoral process has been modified. "It is now the CISM Board of Directors who conduct the elections and present it to the General Assembly for confrmation. 

"This impies that only the active African members of the CISM Board of Directors can fully participate in the election process", he added.
