Some Officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army led by Captain Philip Onibon, have rescued an Anambra based Metro Times Journalist, Solomon Musa from gunmen after he was attacked on February 5 by hoodlums in Isu Aniocha Local Government Area on his way to deliver a documentary tape in the community.
Soldiers also recovered the Journalist Toyota Corolla 2007 after the attack.
Narrating his ordeal, Musa said the hoodlums appeared from different directions with weapons and start shooting in the air.
He said, one of them placed a pistol on his forehead threatening him before beating him. One of the hoodlums seized his phone and shattered it on the flour then confiscated all his media equipment.
His vehicle was also vandalised by the gunmen as he pleaded with them not to kill him and informed them that he came to the area for a documentary.
The gunmen seized his Mark Laptop Apple HP laptop, wrist watche, international passports, National ID card, car battery, Designer eye glasses, Canon Camera 6D Mark II, Bank ATM cards, one thousand US dollar note, driver license as well as other document.
The reporter who luckily survived the attack with injuries was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police Public Relations Officer Anambra State Police Command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga told newsmen that they were incharge of the situation.
Meanwhile, 48 hours after the incident, when the Youth Chairman in the area was contacted, he facilitated and took the Journalist to the hideout of the unknown gunmen to plead on his behalf.
He later helped him to recover his Mark Laptop, Apple HP Laptop, HP Laptop, NOTE dropout computer tablet, Vivo Android phone, Students ID card, Bank ATM cards and Business card.
Metro Times therefore condemned this calause violation press freedom mated by the hoodlums against its reporter while carrying out his legitimate duty in Anambra State.
