Buhari Urges Nigerians to Support, Pray For Military Personnel

President Muhammadu Buhari has implored Nigerians not to relent in their support and prayers for the Armed Forces.

President Buhari made this call in a message to the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration Juma'at prayer held at the National Mosque in Abuja.

Buhari was represented by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan at the ceremonial prayers led by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque Dr Mohammad Kabir Adam.

He implored Nigerians to compliment government’s support by rewarding the sacrifices of serving and retired soldiers as well as to remember families of the dead.

He said the Federal Government would continue to empower the military professionally to end insecurity in parts of the country.

The President therefore reassured serving and retired military personnel that government will continue to improve on their welfare including the families of the dead.

The Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd) said the prayer was in appreciation and recognition of the sacrifices made by the unknown soldiers in defending the nation’s territorial integrity.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Orientation, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in his remarks, tasked the media to improve on reporting the gallantry of the armed forces, who are daily paying the supreme price for the survival of the nation.

The commemorative Jumat prayer was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Farouk Yahaya; the Chief of Naval Staff,  Vice Admiral Auwal Zubair Gambo and the Inspector General of Police, Usman  Alkali Baba.

Others in attendance include serving and retired military officers, leadership of the paramilitary organisations a d members of diplomatic community.
