The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor has said, although the 2021 was challenging, but 2022 will be more challenging in all aspects of national security.
He said: “Our biggest challenge in year 2021 was the area of security. Despite the enormity of the challenge, our military has continued to live up to their billing.
The CDS, who spoke at the Interdenominational Church Service for the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration at the National Christian Centre, Abuja charged all military personnel: “You need to escalate your level of commitment, your level of efficiency and effectiveness because if 2021 was challenging, I like to assure you that 2022 will be more challenging and that is the reason I like to call on you to please gear up, buckle up because we must at all cost take away every form of insecurity in our land.
General Irabor urged the military to rekindle commitment, efficiency and effectiveness in a bid restore security and peace and to get rid of insurgents, kidnappers and other criminal elements.
Gen. Irabor added: “No one needs any clarification or awareness as to the challenges that we face in our country and we not only all need to shy away from the fact that the Armed Forces of Nigeria has done very well within the limits of the resources that are available to deal with the issues that demand the attention of the Armed Forces.
“Let me equally add that the Commander-in-Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari in the light of the various support he has given to us and the assurances he has given to us, more importantly issues that pertain to our welfare and the adminiof men and women of the Armed Forces, much is required of us.
In his message titled, 'the National Anthem' which signifies Natioanal Status, Bishop Isaac Olatunde Olubowale admonished Nigerians to say no to disunity, remain united as a nation in order to confront any challenges together
Bishop Olubowale who deeply explained seven elements in the National Anthem said, the first and second standard is a wake up call to serve fatherland, to love the country, to honour our fallen and living heroes and to serve with all out might and never to be selfish. "The second standard is a tribute to God and a plea to Direct the Nations noble cause, to acknowledge God as a body of Christ, pray for our leaders.
