At least, twenty (20) fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), were on Thursday reportedly killed by troops of Operation Hadin Kai while trying to attack a military base.
Spye News gathered that, one Commanding officer, an Army Officer and five soldiers paid the supreme price when the insurgents attacked Rann, a town in Kala Balge LGA of Borno state on Thursday.
The troops were said to have engaged the terrorists who came in their numbers while the the gunfight lasted many hours.
The incident came three weeks after ISWAP fighters killed Dzarma Zirkusu, a brigadier-general and Commander of the army brigade in Chibok.
Zirkusu was on his way to Askira to provide support for the troops when he was ambushed and killed.
The General was killed alongside three soldiers.
