The Nigerian Army, Tuesday said that its troop’s of 28 Brigade Adamawa state were never involved in fertilizer raketeering as the product which is a source of making IEDs by Boko Haram terrorists has been banned.

Army made this known in  a statement by Major Haruna Mohammed Sani, Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Headquarters 28 Task Force Brigade, Madagali, which made this known,  expressed concern over the unfounded allegation of soldiers selling seized fertilizer to farmers, thereby making life difficult for them.

It said, “In order to put the record straight, it is pertinent to state that in Adamawa state there is currently a ban  imposed on the importation of urea (fertilizer) by the state government as a result of the activities of terrorists, who use fertilizer to make Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) for their criminal activities.

“Sequel to the ban by the state government, troops  intercepted defaulters who were conyeing about 200 bags of the banned product and have been handed over to the Nigerian Police.

“The Nigerian Army remains a professional institution that is focused on safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, in aid of civil authority when called upon to do so.

“Troops will therefore not be distracted by mischief makers who indulge in illegitimate activities that compromise security.

“The general public are please enjoined to disregard the said report, as it is an attempt to misinform the public.

“We urge you to continue to support the military and  other Security agencies to rid the state and the country of insurgents.”
