Army Takes Training Exercise to Bandits' Den in Niger

The Nigerian Army has carried out a two-day military exercise in Kagara, the headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

The location has seen bandits and kidnappers taking covers in the area to carry out nefarious activities in the last couple of months.

Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, Mary Noel Berje, who confirmed this report to newsmen said that, the military training held in the area between Wednesday 21 and today 22 July, 2021.

Berje said the exercise entailed the use of heavy military equipment and live bullets. 

She added that the Nigerian Army troops carried life firing of heavy guns within the period. 

According to Berje; there were lots of heavy sounds gun from shots fired by the soldiers during the routine exercise.

The AbujaCityJournal reports that, banditry and kidnappings had taken place in Kagara and Tegina, with the most recent being the kidnap of 156 school girls and some of their teachers from the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School Tegina in Niger State.1
