Nigerian Minister of Defence, Bashir Salihu Magashi, acccompanied by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor and other security Chiefs are currently in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital.
As at the time of filing this report, the purpose for their visit is not disclosed but it might be in connection with the recent attacks in Damasak, headquarters of Mobbar, over the course of the last one week.
The minister's entourage was received by Maj. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, the theater commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Ado Isa Director Army Public Relations and other top military commanders at Maiduguri Air Task Force base.
The Damasak incident has been in the news throughout the week, with many newspapers erroneously reporting that the town has fallen to Boko Haram.
Reports say, despite the destructions of houses and public buildings, troops are in control.
