COAS Visits Recuperating Wounded in Action Troops in Borno

The Chief of Army Staff ( COAS), Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru on Thursday 29 April 2021, visited recuperating wounded in action troops at 7 Division Hospital Maimalari Cantonment/ Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri.

It would be Recall that a few days ago, suspected members of terrorists dislodged military Base in Kamuya village in Biu Local Government Area and recently Mainok in Kaga Local Government Area where dozens of soldiers were killed with the destruction of arms and ammunition.

Speaking with Journalists, Attahiru said, his constant touch with troops and their commanders in the field is of essence for any military operations adding that the aim is to reassure the troops and interact with them on issues like logistics and deployment.

He assure them of President Muhammadu Buhari readiness to support their operations with all needed resources. 
"President and Commander in Chief is aware of all your doings here, he will do his best to provide needed resources to execute this  war to a logical conclusion.
This is not just in this theatre but any other theatre Nigerian Army is operating" he said."

The Commander in Chief is with you all the time, ready to support you. You will soon get to know the kind of support am talking about" he added." 

The COAS commended to Theatre Commander, officers and soldiers for their doggedness and focus to defeat Boko Haram Terrorists

Gen Attahiru added that, “Even though some of our troop’s locations in Mainok and other formations were attacked by members of Boko Haram sect, we would not accept defeat.

“In war, there is no way troops would always claim victory over its enemies, the Nigerian Army under the support of President Muhammadu Buhari will take on Boko Haram decisively as troops have defeated Boko Haram severally".

“Troops are committed to ending the war and other security challenges such as banditry and kidnapping among other crimes bedevilling some parts of the country.

“We are committed to the focus of the entire operations which is total annihilation of Boko Haram from Nigeria.” Said Gen Attahiru. 

He implore the troops of regular rotation and re- strategizing the operation.  

He reminded them of the importance of synergy with all stakeholders in the operation emphasizing the need for incorporating Air Component in every aspect of the operation.

Responding, the Theatre Commander, Maj Gen Farouk Yahaya thanked the COAS for his constant touch with the theatre and ready to address logistics requests for successful operations.

Yahaya noted that the COAS had visited the theatre more than five times since his appointment in Febuary 2021.
