Yoruba Actress, Orisabunmi, Dies at 60

Popular Yoruba actress, Mrs Folake Aremu, popularly called Orisabunmi, is dead.

A family source confirmed the death which has thrown the Nigeria theatre industry into mourning.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the thespian was still hazy as at the time of filing this story.  

Orisabunmi who hailed from Olla in Kwara State, reportedly died in her sleep at her Ibadan residence. She was 60 years.

Confirming the death with reporters, President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mr Bolaji Amusan, popularly called Baba Latin, said Orisabunmi died late Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

Her death came just four months after that of her ex-husband, Jimoh Aliu, popularly called Aworo.

It was under Jimoh Aliu's direction and guardianship Orisabunmi rose to prominence in the film industry.
