Former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has reacted to the lingering crisis between Sunday Oliseh and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). In an exclusive chat with SportsDay, Keshi revealed that it is not easy to manage a team like the Super Eagles, but insults are part of the job.
Stephen Keshi “Managing the Nigerian national team is a very herculean task and those who have insulted their elders should be expecting insults in the course of time.

“But the national team which I captained for 16 years is for all Nigerians and we must support them, no matter who is in charge. “I trust that the NFF will settle all disputes and most importantly ensure that players’ welfare is taken care of, otherwise we will continue to quarrel over unnecessary issues”. It would be recalled that Oliseh in a video rant referred to his critics as ‘insane’.
The former Juventus player also called out his former colleagues in the Super Eagles ‘Benchwarmers’ who are still bench-warming. He added that they want him out so they can install their own favorite into the team. Oliseh argued that he has performed better than his counterparts at Ghana, South Africa and Eygpt who did not even qualify for the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2016).
Meanwhile, a new revelation has been made of how the Sports Minister Solomon Dalung stopped the NFF from sacking Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh.
Dalung who spoke on February 17 at a media briefing in Abuja said after listening to both the NFF and Oliseh, and analysing the situation, he came to the conclusion that the matter was over blown and pleaded with both parties to settle their differences amicably.
