40 years ago on the 3rd of February 1976, the then Head of state,
Gen. Murtala Muhammed announced the creation of Ondo State made up of
the old Ondo Province consisting of nine divisions out of the defunct Western State.
The journey started with the first Military
Governor, Wing Commander Ita David Ikpeme and had since witnessed
Fifteen different Governors at the helm of affairs with the present
Governor ,Dr Olusegun Mimiko as the 16th.The anniversary was celebrated in a low key manner
In the last seven years, the Mimiko-led administration has invested massively in all areas of the state ‘s economy including Health, Agriculture, Education, Urban Renewal among others..
