Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi
The mother of Ebonyi State Governor, Deaconess Margaret Umahi, has passed on.
She died on Tuesday afternoon after a brief illness in an Enugu hospital.
However, no official confirmation has been made from the family but there was calm and solemn atmosphere at the Government House, when the news of her demise filtered in.
A family source said the corpse had been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.
Meanwhile, government functionaries have been trooping to the temporal residence of the governor to console him while some were seen signing the condolence register.
Deaconess Umahi’s last appearance was at a church thanksgiving service after her son’s inauguration in June.
When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Emma Anya, said he heard the news just like every other person.
Ma Umahi was survived by many children including the governor, and Maj. Gen. Abel Umahi.
